Why You Need Two Photographers at Your Wedding
These are the reasons Why You Need Two Photographers at Your Wedding. Being in the industry long enough we all know why it’s important but those who hope this is their one and only wedding to plan, they might not know why. Here are a few but very important reasons to have two photographers at your wedding.
Multiple Locations – It’s not as important at small 15 person weddings. But this blog is about the average wedding which for me has been 65-300 guests. I can’t tell you how easy getting ready images with a second camera with legs. It’s becoming more frequent that the bride and groom get ready in different areas of the city. Minus the two different locations, during the ceremony, things are not run by the photographers like special moments. Having a second shooter really helps guarantee nothing is missed. Like the image above. If I didn’t have a photographer shooting the ceremony site before the bride, we would have missed that amazing shot of the doors opening for her and her dad.
Timelines always running behind – They are more of a suggestion for some families and even though your trusted vendor team has done everything they can do, the timeline might still be running behind meaning guests have to wait longer to go into the reception because family photos were happening at the same time now.
Honorable Wedding Planner- For those few weddings that don’t have wedding planners, it’s very common for the photographer to turn into the planner. Same day coordinator and venue coordinators do not count! They have enough on their plate. When I have a ton of questions coming at me during times when were supposed to be catching details, it’s amazing to have a second set of hands to catch details.
Extra hands for WOW images- Lastly, my personal favorite reason for having a second shooter. Making magic happen easier. Yes I could have a light stand, but you can see how far away I was from this couple. The light needed to move, with a second photographer I don’t have to waste time running back over to adjust it 2 degrees and then run back. These sunset slots of time are usually 10 minutes long. With another photographer, you get such a range of images with a different focal length.
